David & Ruth Pulido Pavilion

By Jacquiline Mendoza

The David and Ruth Pavilion was finally inaugurated and dedicated to the Lord on February 14, 2019 after almost a year completion since its ground breaking on June 6, 2018 with the same Pastor Romeo Mangiliman, president of North Philippine Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, as guest speaker even during the ground breaking and yesterday’s inauguration and dedication ceremonies at the newly-constructed pavilion. This Red-letter day for NLAC was numerously attended by NPUC and Northern Luzon Mission officers, NLAC faculty workers and students, local government officials of Sison, and other visitors and guests.

The said Pavilion which serves a multi-purpose for NLAC’ needs is dedicated in honor of the late Dr. David Romuar and his surviving spouse, Mrs. Ruth Balinao-Pulido. Their commitment to Adventist education and love for Northern Luzon Adventist College is highly appreciated. Generous and loving couple donors for the said Pavilion are David C.K. Chow and Sonnie Mary Pulido-Chow (daughter of Mr. & Mrs. David Pulido), the same couple who owns the DGM Chow Foundations in Los Angeles, California, USA. Such name of the Pavilion is in honor of their parents, David and Ruth.

In the dedication message by Pastor Mangiliman, he pointed out from the Bible about King Solomon’s gratitude in building of God’s temple which led to the king’s thanksgiving, glory and honor to the most Holy Almighty. Mangiliman further said that God’s people should and must be fully committed to the Lord in whatever undertakings even as a school family like NLAC.

Other parts of the celebration-ceremony includes felicitations coming from the following: Mr. Daniel Uy, in lieu of his father Danny, mayor of Sison, that represents the local community; Dr. Melina Anne Manlongat, director for Academic Affairs, that represents NLAC administration; Mssr. Joeper Eurolfan, faculty representative; and Leo Kingsly Sagaya, student representative.

On the other hand, words of appreciation for this humble accomplishment and donation of a huge project for NLAC, was uttered by Pastor Nepthali Mañez, college president. And of course, the program isn’t complete without words of inspiration from the generous couple donors, David and Mary Chow following the response from Mrs. Ruth Pulido.

Tokens of appreciation in form of plaques and gifts were also given away by NLAC administration to the following who contributed much effort for the completion of the said pavilion. Foremost on lists are the David and Mary Chow, Mrs. Ruth Pulido herself, Eng’r. Ben & Mrs. Vina McCash (who is a close relative to the Pulido's), and Eng’r. Sammie Pimentel, who was the overall in-charge in the physical construction of the said gymnasium.

A simple refreshments was served to all afterwards in form of assorted fresh fruits, pancit palabok, and pancit per se. Meanwhile, in the early eve of the same day, was held in the newly-dedicated pavilion, the yearly college banquet sponsored by the Student Council (SC) of the College.
